The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign is an independent, nonpartisan, grassroots coalition of organizations and individuals. It is dedicated to revitalizing democracy by reforming the current system of political campaign financing and by offering proposals that enable all candidates to have a fair chance to present their ideas to the voters. provided this database to the CFIC.

    This database contains information on individual contributors of $100 or more to state legislators and selected candidates for the state legislature. It covers the period January 1, 1990 through December 31, 1996. If more recent reports have been filed with the state Elections Board, they are included only if they have been processed by the WCCFD. This information is contained in a FoxPro 2.6 for Windows table. It contains approximately 50,000 entries.

    Gov.zip lists nearly 21,000 contributions to Gov. Thompson through 12/31/97, and includes more than 600 contributions to Garvey and Lawton from July through December of 1997. (Garvey is a Democrat running for governor, Lawton a democrat running for Lt. governor.)
