The data were hand-keyed from contributors' forms filed with the state. The included contributions are to parties, PACs, candidates, and other entities. By law, contributions of over $100 must be reported, but many contributions of lesser amount are included.

The data from Alaska came in many separate files. Contributors and receipts were kept in separae tables, linked by a number (unique for only one year) called Nkey. We joined all these tables into one larger table which includes contributors, receivers, amount, date, and all other information originally included in the separate tables.

Contributions: 1988-1998. (1.5 megs, expands to 16 megs)
This zipped folder contains two files: ak88_98.dbf (the data tables), and readme.txt (a more detailed explanation of the data and our modifications of it).
